October 2026 brings a wide range of powerful updates to Zendesk. This month's highlights include the launch of Voice AI agents, expanded automation capabilities with wait steps and Google Sheets actions in Action Flows, as well as long-awaited efficiency improvements in Agent Workspace and the Contact Center. Here's the complete overview of this month's news.
1. Support and Agent Workspace
- Multiple email recipients: You can now enable a workflow for emails with multiple recipients, so linked tickets are automatically created when an incoming email is sent to multiple support addresses on your account.
- Standardized sender authentication: Email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) is now set to the "Minimal" level by default to increase security and ensure better email deliverability.
- Improved ticket merging: Updated interface with a new side panel, rich text support, color-coded status indicators, warning banners, and preserved data redaction.
- Access control for Light Agents: Administrators on non-Enterprise plans can now manage Light Agent permissions directly from the Roles page in Admin Center.
- Close all ticket tabs at once: Agents working with many open ticket tabs can now close all tabs at once with a single command.
- Adjustable notification volume: Agents can now customize the volume of in-product notifications in their own interface.
- Better search in Admin Center: The search function in Admin Center provides more relevant results across settings and menus, even with typos or incomplete searches.
2. AI Agents and Copilot
- Voice AI agents (General Availability): Now available to Zendesk Voice customers. This enables real-time automation of phone calls with transfer to human agents, transcription, summaries, and support for 53 languages.
- Built-in templates for email AI agents: Send exact messages and use conditional logic directly in generative email processes.
- Segmentation in email conversation flows: Customize the conversation flow based on customer segments (for example, offer a discount to standard customers, but route Enterprise customers directly to their account representative).
- Redaction on AI tickets: Manual redaction and AI suggestions for removing sensitive data now also work on tickets handled by AI agents.
- Migration tool for Essential AI agents: An automatic tool that migrates existing Essential AI agents to the new unified AI agent platform.
- New "Ask for details" block in the dialogue builder: Enables the AI agent to collect structured data from the customer through a configurable form before the conversation continues.
- Welcome and knowledge responses for email: Email AI agents can now run pre-processing logic (such as parameters or integrations) before the conversation starts, as well as search knowledge sources when there isn't a specific use-case match.
- Save recommendations in Copilot: Administrators can save useful recommendations in Admin Copilot to review later from a dedicated panel.
- Draft mode for Auto Assist procedures: Test, save, and manage procedures in draft mode without affecting the live suggestions shown to agents.
3. Objects, Automation, and Integrations
- Automated synchronization with Salesforce: Schedule automatic synchronization of Salesforce data into custom Zendesk objects with AI-suggested field mapping and synchronization logs.
- Action Flow logs and tracing: Gain complete visibility into real-time Action Flow runs with 30 days of history and step-by-step tracing for faster troubleshooting.
- Increased Action Builder limit: The maximum number of steps in an Action Flow is increasing from 50 to 60 steps across all supported plans.
- Wait steps in workflows: Add pauses from 1 minute to 31 days in Action Flows to easily manage follow-ups, reminders, and multi-step processes.
- Clone workflows and steps: You can now clone entire Action Flows or copy and paste individual steps between different workflows to save time.
- New Google Sheets actions: Search, read, update, and add rows in Google Sheets directly from Action Flows without leaving Zendesk.
4. Security and Account Administration
- Stricter session inactivity limit (Session timeout): Accounts with an inactivity limit of 10 hours or more are being migrated to an 8-hour limit for increased security. Sessions longer than 12 hours will end automatically.
- Automated resolution usage notifications: Manage and configure email notifications to monitor automated resolution usage and resolution allowances.
- Increase the resolution allowance: Account owners and billing admins can now purchase additional resolution allowances directly from the subscription or dashboard page to avoid interruptions.
5. Knowledge Base and Messaging
- Universal Connector for knowledge (General Availability): Connect REST/JSON API-based content to Zendesk for use in AI agents, Copilot, and search.
- New connectors for Helpjuice, WordPress, and ReadMe: Dedicated connectors are now available to synchronize external content directly into Zendesk Knowledge.
- Streaming animation in Web Widget: Responses from AI agents in chat are generated with a real-time "typing animation" for a more natural experience.
- WhatsApp re-engagement: Clear display of the 24-hour response window in Agent Workspace, easy access to approved templates after the window closes, and a dedicated administration page for WhatsApp templates.
- Multiple conversations enabled by default: New messaging customers now have support for multiple simultaneous conversations for end users enabled by default.
6. Contact Center and Employee Services
- Voicemail in the Contact Center: Callers can leave a message when agents are unavailable, the queue is busy, or the center is closed. Automatically creates a ticket with an audio file, routing information, and optional transcription.
- Search and queue selection for outbound calls: Agents can search for Zendesk users by name or number for direct calls, as well as select a specific outbound queue or caller ID for the call.
- Search, filtering, and synchronization for IT assets: Customizable columns and filtering in the IT asset list, as well as automatic data synchronization of devices from Jamf Pro and Microsoft Intune.
- Approval comments in Slack: Approvers can now write comments directly in Slack for approval requests, which are seamlessly synchronized back to the Zendesk ticket.
- WFM and QA improvements: Import forecast scenarios and simplify schedule imports via CSV in WFM, along with dedicated QA change events in the Admin Center audit log.
